Chocolate Chip Banana Bread

There's something special about banana bread. It gives you that sense of homeliness. The feeling when you used to bake at grandma's house. Peeling the bananas and mashing them into mush, Adding the flour and incorporating it until it became thick and goopy. The smell of vanilla extract dropping into a measuring spoon. Then when it's all mixed up, you get that little scold when you try to taste the batter..."raw eggs are not good for you!" Grandma would say as you stand there, wooden spoon in hand ready to indulge in a taste of heaven, (little did she know this would be your third spoonful).
Now that same indulgence mixed with just a touch of something different....chocolate! Combined with banana, chocolate lifts up this banana bread and takes it to a place that makes it that much more special. Your kitchen will still smell like Sunday morning, and the kids will get the chance to experience the joy of baking with a twist, and you can live vicariously through them. Grandma would be proud!

Try this with any additions you like such as walnuts for a robust flavor, dark chocolate for a richer deeper taste, or even a touch of peanut butter to mix it up a bit. Don't forget a nice tall glass of milk to wash down that deliciousness! And for an extra treat, slice a piece and brown it in some butter to get nice crisp edges. Makes a great (not necessarily healthy) breakfast!
